The past few weeks, we’ve had A LOT of recycling. Boxes, papers, glass, plastic, etc, and to top it off, we missed a day of collection. (Apparently, Phoenix collects on Labor Day?? Hmmm…)
I had to send a request to the city of Phoenix for a repair or replacement to our existing recycling bin – it was getting old and the top had fallen completely off. On the form (which you can find on the City of Phoenix’s website, here if you need it), I put in the ‘comments’ section a question: “Can I have a second bin? ”
The next Monday, when our recycling is normally picked up, I came home to a new bin at the end of our driveway. I was thankful because our old one was really sad, and I never heard back from the city, so I assumed that you couldn’t have a second recycling bin.
Later in the week, my husband called me and asked about another bin on our driveway – without even letting me know, they dropped another one off! So now we have plenty of room for recycling – which is a blessing, because it seems like sometimes we have a lot of recycling!
If you’re curious, in the city of Phoenix, you can recycle the following items:
Make sure you follow all the guidelines – you can’t recycle foam here (sadly) or plastic bags, but most grocery stores (with the exception of Trader Joe’s) have plastic bag collection centers so they can be recycled.

Do you make sure to recycle?
