This is Prince. He is probably one of the most handsome dogs I’ve ever seen, and sadly, we had to put him to sleep on Sunday. It was heartbreaking – he’d started exhibiting disturbing behavior and when the vet evaluated him, we were told he was showing early signs of dementia. Looking back, it’s easy to see the signs – confusion, terror when we’d leave the house, not eating – and we knew he’d only get worse. We said our goodbyes, and he went to sleep peacefully.
I do miss him – he had the softest ears and I loved petting them. He used to be very cuddly but recently stopped wanting affection (another sign of dementia), and he was very smart.
I do miss him a lot – I was much more sad than I expected to be, but it’s getting better as the days pass.

Awww I’m so sorry. My mom lost her dog to cancer this year and your post brought me to tears about it all over again. Pets are such a part of our family. We had our dog when I lived at home. Hugs!

Sorry for your loss. We have an elderly dog and I don’t think she will be with us much longer. It will be very sad.
